There are several Content types that allow you to upload an image to the website. These include Image, Two Column Content, Three Column Content, Text and Image or Video and others.
Care should still be taken when selecting images as the website naturally crops them to fit the template of the page.
Because the website optimises content so that it looks good across devices of different sizes, this can cause real troubles with images. Best is to remember that the website will show the image on a landscape screen of a desktop or laptop as well as a vertical screen of an iPad or mobile phone.
Ideally use photos that have one single point of focus, rather than two or three (running the risk of cropping ruining the look and message of the photo).
A good rule of thumb would be to avoid critical elements of the image that you don't want cropped in the top and bottom quarters of the image.
Always try and upload images that are in accord with the specifications of the Content type you are using (such as 1200 x 500px).
