To create a new page on your RFDS micro-site within the national website you need to go to the Content listings in the CMS and click on Pages.
You then click on the green button on the far right to create a new page
This will open the template for a new page
Everything with a red asterisk * must be filled out before you press Save. The page will require a heading, which will be at the top of the page when it is published. The CMS will generate the slug (the unique page URL) for the heading you create automatically.
The CMS has several different page templates and the one you choose for your page will influence what you can and can't do in terms of content. It is recommended you use a General Page as the others you may find too inhibitive ias they have limited Content types and were originally created for the national website in 2015.
You must choose what the parent page is for your new page to come under and a drop-down list is provided for this. This establishes the heirarchy of the page in your microsite. Don't click the Published box until you are ready to go live (once you have finished all page content).
You also have to decide if you want the page to show up in your micro-site main navigation, and upload a thumbnail image for it to have.
There is option also for the page to be included in the footer, and if you want it to not come up on a Google Search or in the RFDS website search.
Your new page must have a meta title and meta data. This is all about search engine optimisation and allows Google and other search engines to find the page. Make sure that your meta title and your meta data are descriptive and explain what the page is about.
Once you have the above done, click Save and Continue Editing
You are now ready to create the page content. You do this by choosing the Content types you want, and adding content. There are many types of content, starting with Rich Text and they are visible with the drop down box.
It is recommended that as you populate the page, that you Save and Preview regularly, so that you can see what the unpublished page looks like and you can best optimise the Content types to best communicate your content.
